Betty moved to the Olympia area later in life to spend time with her family.īette is survived by her sisters, Janice Byerly and Carol Mead her sons, Brad (Cathy) Lovaas and Steve (Teresa) Lovaas of Olympia, WA four grandchildren and one great-grandchild. Teaching the children of Sedro-Woolley and raising her boys were the most important achievements of her life. She was a member of Bethlehem Lutheran Church. Bette taught at both Central and Evergreen Elementary for 34 years before retiring. At Western she met her husband Richard “Dick” Lovaas, and they were married on Septemin Bellingham, Washington.įollowing a year of student teaching at Lincoln Elementary in Mount Vernon, Bette and the family moved to Sedro-Woolley where both Bette and Dick were school teachers and raised three boys. She attended and graduated from Olympic Community College in 1957 and then attended and graduated from Western Washington State College in 1959 with a teaching certificate. Naval Shipyards so the family first lived in Long Beach, California before moving and settling in Bremerton, Washington where she spent her childhood.īette graduated Bremerton High School in 1955. She was the oldest of four children, one brother and two sisters. She was born in Bottineau, North Dakota on Mato Alfred and Alta Erdman. George is survived by son, Nick Nemo daughter, Debi Dunlap and her husband, Tom grandson, Andy Nemo great-granddaughter, Shailee Nemo brother, Robert Nemo and many dear nieces and nephews. His fondest memories are the many family trips to Maui, HI, and of course, camping at Lake Chelan.ĭad would take us kids (everybody’s kids) waterskiing, snow skiing, fishing, hunting, hiking, golfing, boating and on the famous car trips! “Don’t make me stop this car!” on occasion, he did! Until his passing, kids would still come up and tell him they were part of his team. George loved kids – he loved to talk of the many years he coached Little League. He was a 50 year member of the Laborers International Union of North America, starting in 1952 until his retirement. They made their home in Mount Vernon where their three “Bandits” (his words) were born. George returned to the Skagit Valley where he married Lois Heggen on October 24, 1949. Upon returning to the mainland, he was stationed at Fort Bragg, North Carolina, where he was honorably discharged in 1946. He was stationed on the Big Island of Hawaii.

George enlisted in the United States Army in 1943. He was raised and schooled in Sedro-Woolley. George was born in Sedro-Woolley, Washington, to Albert and Mary Nemo. Nemo, passed away on Februat the age of 90. Several major projects have expanded the building since then.George M. A member of the congregation was the general contractor for the project, assisted by a great deal of volunteer labor. Soon property was purchased for the present site, a building was designed, and construction began. The first worship service held there was the first Sunday of June 1950. Immanuel Bible Church was located in a vacant church building one block south of the present location. Could an independent Bible church be formed? They didn’t know but decided to proceed one step at a time as the Lord led. The prevailing view was that the fellowship was worth preserving.
